Protection for Hire by Camy Tang [4 Stars]

Protection for Hire by Camy Tang

Tessa Lancaster is a tough girl, which earned her a role as an enforcer in her uncle Teuro's Japanese Mafia gang. Then she ends up in prison for a crime she didn't commit.
While in prison, Tessa becomes a Christian. Once released, she finds a job as a body guard for rich socialite Elizabeth St. Amant and her 3-year old son.
But, there's problems. Like Elizabeth's ruthless ex-husband; Uncle Teuro, who doesn't understand why she won't come back to the mafia; her family, Elizabeth's lawyer, Charles; and how to live with her new faith.
Now, Tessa and Charles must work together to protect Elizabeth.

I had seen Camy Tang's books numerous times but they never were anything that interested me too much...until I saw this one. Tessa is different then your normal heroine. She's tough, trained in martial arts, and smart. (There's a part in chapter 17 I love!) She's not your typical perfect little Christian girl. (That's why I go for suspense/thriller type books, I want a character who seems real. Nobody is perfect!)
Even the secondary characters are very interesting, especially uncle Teuro. Camy Tang does an excellent job with the characters.

The only thing I didn't like about this book as it leaves you hanging with the ending. You're stuck waiting for the next book!
